reflecting on 2019

2019 taught me how to choose me as an act of resistance and survival, even if it meant being misunderstood and letting go of important relationships and commitments. In the end, I learned to sit in the tension and press forward in spite of the discomfort. In the process, I discovered that’s it’s far more important that I understand me. Most importantly, I grew up a little more than last year.

Farewell, 2019. Hello, 2020. I’ve been waiting for you! ❤️

Nina Simone’s “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood” has long been one of my favorite songs, and seems appropriate for my 2019 reflection.

Happy New Year!
